Capricorn 23-24 A Woman Entering A Convent

I was asked to shed some light on the this 23-24 Capricorn/ Aries/ Cancer/ Libra cross, and I promised to have a go.

At first glance this symbol is about entering a religious community of women, and when we look at the opposite symbol Cancer 23-24 A Woman And Two Men On A Bit Of Sunlit Land Facing South, well, ahem, the woman seems to be spending time in the company of select men! Well and good, as long as they're having fun! The south direction is considered to mean many things, including:

• the Present, the Now


• beginnings, purity


• fire, passion, creativity


• physical strength, adventure, loyalty

which sounds pretty awesome.

So how does either woman transition to the opposite situation? What would be their motivation?

If you look at the other parts of the cross, there is another pair of seeming opposites: Aries 23-24 An Open Window And A Net Curtain Blowing Into A Cornucopia and Libra 23-24 A Third Wing On The Left Side Of A Butterfly.
The Aries symbol seems to be a sign of abundance - or from Wikipedia: baby god Zeus was fed milk from a goat, whose horn broke off which then had the power to provide unending nourishment. My brain has just done a random connection with this to the biodynamic farming originated by Rudolf Steiner and his buried horn filled with crystals to make the soil fertile...

The Libra symbol seems to be about transformation (caterpillar to butterfly) and the left side meaning receiving or the past or a significant female (or your feminine side).

Both these symbols appear to make sense as a motivation for a Cancer/Capricorn transition - the Aries promise of abundance or "nourishment" (spiritual or earthly satisfaction), or the Libran transformation of feminine ideals (married to God, or experiencing earthly partnership - and this doesn't have to be sexual). The idea of receiving in the Libran left wing makes The Aries/Libra symbols seeming opposites, if you choose to see it that way.

I read a buddhist monk's memoir (Open Heart, Open Mind by Tsoknyi Rinpoche) who was believed to be the reincarnation of a great buddhist teacher, however in this life, he had too much energy and a strong interest in women to go back to the monk he had been for lifetimes. In this life he was to learn about having a family, and patience with children, and living with a wife. These are experiences that deepen the wisdom of his ageless soul.

Another aspect of this cross is the tension of difference and belonging. The women enters the convent - is she the new girl trying to fit in? The only woman on the bit of land, a butterfly that uniquely has an extra wing. The Arian cornucopia resolves these symbols by saying that as awkward as we may feel about whether we belong, we have potential to bring nourishment and abundance to others, as we are a "breath of fresh air". It is our difference that the group needs, whether or not they know this.

In my own personal experience, I would say that accepting my difference is the first step to owning my power. For many years I have felt a mild anxiety about belonging (and had personality structures that repressed this anxiety too), hoping people would just overlook my difference, and that other aspects of myself would compensate. Now I see that I have not embraced all aspects of myself, thereby limiting access to my full potential. No more apologising for being a weirdo! Didn't I know that people just accepted me anyway, just because I was there? I was working so hard at earning acceptance instead of leveraging my acceptance of myself! Which brings me back to the Libran symbol - the butterfly that receives/ accepts itself?
