Scorpio 10-11 A Drowning Man Rescued

A friend of mine has her Earth on this degree. It seems to manifest in a strong attraction to action-oriented community services such as the State Emergency Services, the military, the Rural Fire Services etc. As this is her Earth, her Sun is the opposite degree in Taurus 10-11 A Woman Sprinkling Flowers. She has grown up in an old family in town with a strong matriarch who seems to be very Victorian era-ish, and for my friend this has given her a very suffocating knowledge of formality, gentility and strong gender roles. Her Earth in Scorpio seems to give her an escape from this upbringing, and she is excited to be in the State Emergency Services and getting her adrenaline and testosterone highs!

Another layer to this is that her upbringing has also been emotionally suffocating, with many things unsaid in the larger extended family resulting in dramas with her aunts, cousins and grandma. Her own mother refuses to take part in them but is nonetheless affected. Often her mother feels she is drowning in emotion, and this mother's only child (my friend) seems to be her only lifeline. The bond between them is so strong (as is most mother-daughter relationships, for good or bad!) that as my friend realises more of herself and evolves into who she wants to be, her mother is also shifting too.
